The UK is aiming for net zero emissions by 2050-and this organisation is playing a central role in delivering the energy infrastructure to get us there.
LHH have been instructed to secure a Senior Construction Lawyer to help deliver some of the country's most significant and complex infrastructure projects-spanning substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and potentially offshore connections.
This is an opportunity to combine legal excellence with real-world impact, contributing to the delivery of major low-carbon energy initiatives.
Why This Role Stands Out
You'll provide strategic legal support across high-value infrastructure projects (ranging from £millions to £billions), advising on construction and engineering matters. Working closely with commercial, procurement, and project delivery teams, you'll play a critical role in shaping contracts and strategies that directly enable the UK's clean energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert legal advice on construction contracts for major infrastructure projects.
Draft, review, and negotiate NEC, FIDIC, EPC, and framework agreements.
Support procurement processes under the Utilities Contracts Regulations and Procurement Act (training provided if needed).
Advise project teams on legal matters during delivery, including risk mitigation and contract interpretation.
Manage relationships with external legal counsel and ensure effective, budget-conscious delivery.
Collaborate with colleagues across the broader legal team on commercial, IP, data, and outsourcing matters.
👩⚖️ What We're Looking For
UK Qualified solicitor or barrister with strong experience in non-contentious construction law.
Background in either private practice or an in-house legal team.
Familiarity with infrastructure or energy projects and relevant contract forms (NEC, FIDIC, EPC).
Bonus: Experience in procurement law or advising in regulated industries.
Strategic thinker, strong communicator, and relationship builder.
Able to influence project direction and mentor other legal team members.
