LHH are recruiting for a leading business in Burton for a Financial Accountant.
Salary is up to £55,000 (some flex to increase)
Hybrid - 2 days a week on site
Role Overview
This role forms part of a specialist finance team that partners with the wider business to support operations, planning and decision‑making. You'll play a key role in the monthly accounts process, including margin review, payroll, prepayments, accruals, journals, and general ledger maintenance.
The role also includes completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, preparing the month‑end file, supporting year‑end audit activity, and assisting Project Managers with CAPEX spend and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Review commercial contracts and provide accounting input and advice.
- Preparation of statutory accounts (FRS102)
- Ensure financial processes and controls are documented and followed.
- Support business planning objectives, including tax considerations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal and audit requirements.
- Review margins and rebate information as part of the month‑end process.
- Prepare monthly accruals, prepayments, and other required journals.
- Prepare nominal journals for D365 as required by finance teams.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations for relevant entities.
- Produce elements of the month‑end file, including risks & opportunities.
- Lead the bank audit process linked to asset‑based lending.
- Oversee month‑end ledger close across key financial ledgers.
- Lead year‑end audit preparation for specified entities.
- Manage D365 ledger configuration and support reporting development.
Skills and Experience
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience.
- Results‑driven with strong initiative and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong collaborator with excellent relationship‑building abilities.
- Understands confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Self‑motivated, organised, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Highly numerate with strong analytical skills.
