LHH is working with a leading steel producer to recruit a Mechanical Craftsperson for their Roll Stand Refurbishment Team.
In this hands-on role, you'll strip down, inspect, and rebuild roll stands, working from technical drawings to repair or replace parts. The environment is physically demanding, with grease, scale, and dust part of daily operations. You'll use specialist tools, including induction heaters and presses, and occasionally support other teams with maintenance and moving equipment.
You'll work on a 4-week rotating day-shift pattern, including three weekends out of every four, with rest days during the week.
We're seeking a qualified Mechanical Fitter with a time-served apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering. You must have experience fitting bearings and gears, strong awareness of COSHH regulations, and a commitment to safe working practices. A valid driving licence is required.
Experience with forklift trucks (up to 2 tonnes) and overhead cranes (up to 10 tonnes) is desirable but not essential.
