£130,000.00 - £130,000.00Year

ScotRail is on a journey of transformation - delivering a safe, reliable and customer-focused railway that connects communities, supports a growing economy and plays a central role in Scotland's journey to net zero.

As Executive Director - Strategy and Business Planning, you will be at the heart of ScotRail's transformation. This is one of the most influential roles in Scottish transport, responsible for shaping the strategy, business plan and timetable that define how our railway operates - ensuring our services meet stakeholder expectations, drive value for money and support Scotland's net zero ambitions.

You will lead a diverse portfolio covering timetabling, business transformation, strategic development, legal and regulated contracts. You will shape ScotRail's strategy, oversee key partnerships with Transport Scotland, Scottish Rail Holdings and Network Rail, and ensure that our railway continues to improve reliability, efficiency and value for money.

This is not a steady-state role. We are seeking a bold, forward-thinking leader - someone with the insight to see the big picture and the drive to turn that vision into delivery.

You will inspire teams, influence stakeholders at the highest level, and lead the long-term planning that ensures ScotRail remains at the forefront of innovation and service excellence.

If you want to help design the future of Scotland's transport network - building a punctual, resilient and sustainable railway for generations to come - we would be delighted to hear from you.

Applications in the form of a tailored CV and covering letter, highlighting your skills and experience pertinent to the role, arriving no later than 23.59 on Sunday, 11 January 2026.
