Summary:
Our client, a prestigious commercial and private client law practise in London, is seeking a Chief Operations Officer to join their team. This is a newly created position that will play a crucial role in executing the firm's strategic plans and enabling the partners to focus on client relationships and business development. The ideal candidate will have extensive financial experience in professional services, particularly in law firms, and a solution-led approach. As the Chief Operations Officer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the firm's growth plans, including M&A transactions, and work closely with the fee earners and the wider team. Reporting to the Managing Partner and equity partners, you will be responsible for driving operational efficiencies, promoting a culture of innovation, and overseeing various key aspects of the business, such as billable hours, employee performance, staff training, and resource management. The successful candidate will possess leadership skills, excellent organisational abilities, commercial awareness, and a track record of challenging the status quo in a positive and constructive manner.
Skills and Experience:
To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years' experience working in a regulatory environment, preferably in a senior finance role reporting directly to a partnership and leading a team of at least 25 staff.
- Previous experience within professional practise, specifically in law firms, and working with entrepreneurs.
- Strong understanding of financial management, legal finance, compliance regulations, and law firm organisation.
- Excellent commercial awareness and interpersonal skills.
- Recognised accounting qualification.
- Proficiency in IT, particularly Office 365.
