Senior Inventory Accountant (Hybrid | Austin, TX Area)
Base Salary: $90,000–$120,000
A client of ours in the consumer products / high-growth global brand space is seeking a Senior Inventory Accountant to join their accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to the business, partnering with supply chain and operations, and owning inventory accounting in a complex, high‑volume environment.
The position follows a hybrid model (2 days onsite, 3 remote), with an office located near downtown Austin, and offers strong exposure to operations, systems, and process improvement as the company continues to scale.
What You’ll Do
Inventory Accounting & Reconciliations
Own inventory accounting across multiple channels, including owned inventory, consignment, and drop‑ship models
Manage inventory movement and flow analysis, identifying and resolving discrepancies
Perform physical‑to‑GL reconciliations and ensure inventory balances are accurate and complete
Support inventory valuation, reserves, and related analysis in a high‑volume environment
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
Prepare and review inventory‑related journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
Support the month‑end close ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clean tie‑outs
Perform variance and flux analysis to explain inventory and cost drivers
Maintain strong controls and documentation around inventory accounts
Systems & Process Improvement
Work extensively in NetSuite, supporting ongoing efforts to automate and improve inventory accounting processes
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and strengthen internal controls
Partner with accounting leadership as systems and processes scale with the business
Cross‑Functional Partnership
Collaborate closely with Supply Chain and Operations to understand inventory flows and improve data accuracy
Serve as a key accounting partner to operational teams
Support audit requests related to inventory and cost accounting
What We’re Looking For
Required
4+ years of accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
Strong inventory accounting experience in a high‑volume environment
Hands‑on experience with:
Inventory reconciliations (physical to GL)
Inventory movement and flow analysis
Multi‑subsidiary environments
NetSuite experience (critical for success in this role)
Solid understanding of:
Drop‑shipping models
Owned vs. consignment inventory
Basic cost accounting concepts
Foundational ASC 606 concepts
Advanced Excel skills
Exceptional attention to detail with strong reconciliation skills
Preferred
Background in CPG, consumer products, or other high‑volume environments
Exposure to multi‑currency accounting
Strong experience partnering cross‑functionally with supply chain or operations teams
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA a plus)
Work Environment & Flexibility
Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote
Office located near downtown Austin
Approximately 10 weeks per year with increased onsite presence to support leadership needs
February audit period: fully onsite
Standard work hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
