LHH has partnered with a great law firm looking for a skilled and proactive Paralegal to join their legal team in Emeryville. This role is ideal for a legal professional with experience supporting litigation in both State and Federal courts, and who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Paralegal, you will be instrumental in supporting attorneys throughout the litigation process. Your duties will include:
Drafting legal correspondence, pleadings, discovery documents, and formatting briefs with Tables of Contents and Authorities.
Filing and serving legal documents in State and Federal courts, including electronic filing.
Conducting legal research using Westlaw and online resources, including citation verification and analysis of court rules, procedures, and judicial profiles.
Assisting attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, arbitrations, and mediations by organizing documents, assembling binders, and locating case materials.
Managing the discovery process, including reviewing document productions, indexing, redacting, and applying Bates stamps.
Maintaining team calendars, tracking deadlines, meetings, and tasks, and managing case databases with court details and contact information.
Coordinating team meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting updates.
Communicating professionally with clients, vendors, and third parties.
Arranging travel and logistics for the legal team.
Providing support to other administrative staff as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
To be successful in this role, you should bring:
At least 3 years of experience in a legal support role, with exposure to both State and Federal court systems.
Strong understanding of litigation procedures and court rules across jurisdictions.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
Familiarity with legal platforms such as Westlaw, SharePoint, Relativity, and CaseFleet is a plus.
A paralegal certificate is preferred but not required.
