Job Title: Sr. Payroll Specialist

Location: Medford, NY
Salary Range: $80,000–$95,000 per year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)


Position Overview

A growing organization is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sr. Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle payroll across multiple locations and states. This role requires strong payroll processing experience, tax compliance knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with HR and Finance teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll from start to finish.

  • Develop and apply payroll policies aligned with organizational needs.

  • Ensure accurate calculation and timely submission of payroll taxes.

  • Stay current with payroll systems, best practices, and wage/tax laws.

  • Monitor and approve timesheets.

  • Handle child support, garnishments, and third-party pay notices.

  • Manage employee data changes including hires, terminations, and salary adjustments.

  • Coordinate payroll-related aspects of 401(k) plans including deferrals, loans, and audits.

  • Support multiple locations with payroll inquiries and processing.

  • Register and maintain state-specific withholding and unemployment accounts.

  • Audit payroll deductions for accuracy.

  • Collaborate with HR to enhance payroll procedures.

  • Maintain payroll records and documentation.

  • Provide payroll reports and analysis as needed.

  • Assist with audits, reconciliations, and payroll-related projects.

  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.

  • Document payroll procedures and checklists.

  • Participate in HRIS maintenance and provide backup support to HR systems.

  • Support HR department with additional projects as needed.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full-cycle payroll administration experience.

  • Knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll regulations and tax laws.

  • Experience with payroll and timekeeping systems.

  • General understanding of HR policies and compliance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, or related field preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Professional demeanor and ability to handle confidential information.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Familiarity with GMP requirements is a plus.



Pay Details: $80,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
