Description:

Summary: Responsible for the fulfillment side of CNC Machine sales by ensuring the operational capability of all lines of CNC machines and integrated product load/unload systems. Apply the latest process techniques, tooling, Fanuc, and other software to develop robust engineering solutions for customers. Travel to customer facilities for installation, CPK acceptance runoffs, and customer machine operator training. Perform machine troubleshooting analysis as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install measuring probes, PPG, and other process-specific peripheral components. Install and qualify appropriate tooling and work holding for turnkey or customer demo projects.

  • Create CNC programs manually and/or by using CadCam programming software.

  • Set up machines and validate processes to ensure they meet customers' quality and cycle time requirements. Occasionally handle customer requests such as tool monitoring, redundant tooling, parametric programming, tool setter usage, and automation.

  • Perform machine acceptance runoff with the customer present at the facility and then duplicate at their facility after installation. Post-acceptance, provide customer personnel with machine operator training instruction and materials.

  • Travel to customer facilities internationally to perform and/or assist with machine runoffs and operator training. May require some travel to Japan for specialized training.

  • Maintain project schedules and meet customer deadlines. Must work well under pressure and tactfully communicate with customers and co-workers.

  • Attend Proposal Engineering meetings to review new projects. Attend Kick-off meetings and provide feedback to Engineering, Project Management, and Proposals groups with any concerns about part processing, tooling, etc.

  • Troubleshoot machine process issues which may include surface finish issues, chip control, tool life, etc.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot loader programs and cycle tables.

  • Set up PPG, which includes changing out fixtures, adjusting transducers, performing gage R&R, and setting up/programming feedback to the machine.

  • Work with the Proposal Engineering group to select tooling for all projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience: AS Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a technical school preferred and/or 7+ years of experience on CNC Metal Cutting machines and turning applications. Proficient with SolidWorks, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Knowledge of GD&T, tooling, and end-user applications in the Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, and Consumer industries.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Work with a variety of metal cutting machines and precision measuring instruments. Use of a company-supplied PC/Laptop to write reports, data spreadsheets, and emails. Employee is responsible for their own hand tools, which include Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, mallet, wrenches, etc.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply fundamental mathematical concepts such as algebra and trigonometry. Ability to apply mathematical operations to programming and sampling analysis.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Travel:

  • This position requires up to 50% travel, including domestic and international. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. Must have or be eligible to obtain a passport for international travel.
