Our staffing firm is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support a large, multi‑state workforce for one of our long‑standing clients in Columbus, OH. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys digging into payroll details, and is committed to accuracy, confidentiality, and exceptional internal service. The position involves payroll processing, data auditing, and cross‑department collaboration to ensure smooth payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing high‑volume, multi‑state payroll for several thousand employees across both hourly and salaried roles.

  • Import and validate hours, commissions, bonus data, and related payroll inputs from various internal sources.

  • Review and audit transactions including new hires, pay rate changes, status updates, and other wage‑affecting items.

  • Ensure correct application of federal, state, and local tax regulations across multiple states.

  • Support garnishment and child support processing.

  • Complete payroll employment verifications and government‑required reports.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of payroll experience, ideally in a multi‑state environment and processing for 1,000+ employees

  • Experience with UKG or another web‑based payroll software preferred.

  • High school diploma required; additional education in accounting or business is a plus.

  • Strong customer service mindset and high attention to detail.

  • Proficient in Excel (formatting, formulas and vlookups)

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information.



Pay Details: $19.00 to $22.00 per hour
