Legal Assistant – Litigation | Grand Rapids, MI | $50,000–$70,000/year + Benefits

Are you an experienced Legal Assistant looking to join a dynamic legal team in Grand Rapids, MI? LHH seeking a detail-oriented professional with litigation experience to support attorneys in a fast-paced environment for a Michigan based law firm. This is a full-time opportunity offering competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and format pleadings, agreements, and legal documents for court filings and client delivery.

  • Deadline Management: Track and communicate key dates to attorneys and stakeholders.

  • File Maintenance: Organize and maintain client files and case records.

  • Technology Utilization: Use document management systems, Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and billing software effectively.

  • Client & Case Management: Open new matters, coordinate conflict checks, and close cases per protocol.

  • Administrative Duties: Manage calendars, schedule appointments, draft correspondence, process mail, and handle electronic filing.

  • Billing Assistance: Review and edit pre-bills based on attorney instructions.

  • Team Collaboration: Support other legal assistants and contribute to administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience in a law firm.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and grammar.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and willingness to learn new tech tools.

  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills.

  • Familiarity with court rules and procedures.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

  • Professional communication and client service skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: $50,000–$70,000/year, depending on experience.

  • Benefits: Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits and 401K plan.
