Job Title: Paralegal – Family Law & Litigation

Location: Lansing, MI (On site)

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: $60,000 – $80,000 annually, based on experience

About the Role

Are you a detail-oriented paralegal with a passion for family law and litigation? LHH is parting with a Michigan-based law firm seeking a skilled legal professional to support attorneys in managing complex cases from intake through resolution. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful legal matters while collaborating with a dynamic team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Client Support

  • Manage caseloads from intake to resolution

  • Draft case plans, timelines, and client status reports

  • Serve as primary client contact and maintain regular communication

Legal Research & Analysis

  • Conduct factual and legal research

  • Summarize findings and prepare memoranda for attorney review

Drafting & Document Preparation

  • Draft legal documents including complaints, motions, discovery responses, affidavits, subpoenas, and trial materials

  • Ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines

Discovery & Trial Support

  • Coordinate discovery processes and organize exhibits

  • Prepare deposition summaries and assist with trial logistics

Court Filings & Docketing

  • File documents with state and federal courts using e-filing systems

  • Maintain accurate docketing of deadlines and appearances

Technology Utilization

  • Use document management systems, litigation support software, and Office 365 proficiently

Billing & Timekeeping

  • Track billable time and assist with pre-bill reviews

Professional Collaboration

  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to support legal strategy and client service

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required

  • Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program strongly preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of paralegal experience in Family Law required

  • Litigation experience strongly preferred

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of family law procedures and legal terminology

  • Excellent legal writing, proofreading, and research skills

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and legal tech platforms

  • High level of professionalism and client service orientation

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
