A highly regarded, global law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Support Specialist to join its Litigation team in Los Angeles. This role provides sophisticated administrative and litigation support to multiple attorneys and is ideal for a professional who excels in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven legal environment.
The successful candidate is proactive, detail‑oriented, and confident managing competing priorities while delivering consistently high‑quality work. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset are essential. This position requires regular in‑office presence to support attorneys, participate in team collaboration, and attend meetings and training.
Position Summary
The Legal Support Specialist provides advanced secretarial and administrative support to three or more litigation attorneys, assisting with matters from case inception through post‑trial. Responsibilities include document production and management, court filings, calendaring, trial preparation, and general litigation support. Flexibility to work overtime as needed is required.
Key Responsibilities
Manage attorney calendars, including court dates, deadlines, depositions, mediations, and client meetings
Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements and process expense reimbursements
Prepare, revise, and proofread legal documents and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court rules
Format and file pleadings and other documents in federal, state, and appellate courts, including e‑filing
Organize and maintain electronic and hard‑copy case files and records
Assist with document production, discovery, and deposition preparation
Prepare and assemble briefs, motions, exhibits, binders, and trial notebooks
Support trial and hearing preparation, including exhibit management and witness coordination
Enter attorney time and assist with billing processes as needed
Conduct document review, summarize records, transcripts, and discovery materials
Perform cite‑checking, proofreading, and quality control of legal filings
Provide general administrative and litigation support and assist with departmental projects as assigned
Qualifications
Skills & Competencies
Strong working knowledge of litigation procedures and court rules
Experience preparing and filing documents in federal, state, and appellate courts
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines under pressure
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and sound judgment
Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and staff
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive computer work
Ability to lift and move files, access filing cabinets, and navigate office spaces as needed
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
Minimum of 10 years’ experience supporting attorneys in a litigation practice
Prior experience in a large or mid‑size law firm strongly preferred
Experience with iManage or similar document management systems preferred
Technology
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Expertise in electronic court filing systems
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and legal technologies
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Pay Range: $46.15 – $53.33
Compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and other job‑related factors permitted by law.
