LHH Recruitment Solutions has a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer opening for our optoelectronics client in the Moorestown-Lenola, NJ area! This direct hire role allows you to utilize your training and experience in the optoelectronics market and lead the way for process and procedural operational improvements. You will be a critical component in researching, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems using SolidWorks. The engineer will lead and support activities related to the design, fabrication, installation, and servicing of thin-film equipment. Successful candidates will possess 10+ years of proven experience in mechanical equipment and system design, including expertise in creating detailed and assembly drawings, applying GD&T standards, and generating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM).
Salary range: $125-135k annually.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design vacuum deposition systems and components such as; Machined parts, sheet metal components, frame weldments, and cabinets, DC and RF-powered subassemblies requiring electrical isolation, etc.
Create production-ready 3D models and drawings (assemblies, part details, schematics) using CAD tools.
Generate part master records and Bills of Materials (BOM) in MRP software.
Collaborate with purchasing and production teams to ensure fabrication and installation meet design and customer specifications.
Support sales and marketing with 2D layout and concept drawings.
Assist service teams with preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrade feasibility.
Partner with electrical and software engineers to deliver complete vacuum systems.
Research and qualify vendors for component sourcing.
Perform deflection and stress analysis using FEA simulation tools.
Develop and review engineering documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Solve complex design challenges and provide innovative solutions within broad guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
10+ years of demonstrated experience in mechanical equipment and/or system design, including mechanical detail and assembly drawings, GD&T, and BOM generation and maintenance.
5+ years of experience in capital equipment design, preferably in an optics/semiconductor/vacuum industry.
Proven expertise in SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation.
Experience with AutoCAD LT.
Experience with ERP systems - Epicor highly preferred.
Proven proficiency in SolidWorks and other CAD tools for 3D modeling and design.
Experience with thin-film vacuum deposition processes and related equipment.
Knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials selection, and fabrication techniques.
Ability to create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
Hands-on experience with project management and coordination of design-to-production workflows.
