Editorial Director –Clinical News (Cardiology)
Location: Remote (U.S.-based), hybrid in Newark, NJ preferred.
Job Type: Contract (W2, with benefits)
Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week, standard business hours)

About the Role
A healthcare-focused media organization is seeking an Editorial Director to lead cardiology-related content initiatives. This remote contract role involves overseeing editorial planning, assigning stories, and refining content for a professional medical audience. You’ll collaborate across teams to ensure timely, relevant, and high-quality coverage of clinical developments in cardiovascular care.
Key Responsibilities
Shape editorial direction by identifying timely and relevant cardiology topics
Assign and edit clinical news and features for a specialized medical audience
Partner with marketing and operations to support content distribution and visibility
Contribute to special projects and campaigns across editorial and clinical teams
Build and manage a network of freelance contributors, ensuring consistent quality
Requirements
10+ years of editorial experience in health, science, or medical journalism
Must have strong familiarity with cardiology field
Proven ability to guide freelance writers and shape story development
Skilled in editing for clinical accuracy, clarity, and audience relevance
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote editorial environment
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Science, or a related field
Pay Details: $55.00 to $70.00 per hour
