Job Title: HR Generalist (On-site Contract Role) Location: Newark, NJ Pay: Up to $30 per hour Start Date: ASAP
Summary: This position supports all Authority operating departments, the Director of Human Resources, and the Director of Labor/Employee Relations. The HR Generalist implements human resource programs, solves performance problems, and collaborates with unions. The role involves driving the implementation, administration, training, tracking, and communication of all HR policies and programs, including performance management, talent management, employee relations, and HR-related compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement HR programs including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, benefits, training, records management, safety, succession planning, employee relations, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
Develop HR solutions by collecting and analyzing information and recommending courses of action.
Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems, evaluating potential solutions, and coaching and counseling managers and employees.
Complete special projects by setting timetables, conducting research, and fulfilling transactions.
Manage client expectations by communicating project status and resolving concerns.
Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
Assist in managing employee relations cases, Code of Conduct violations, and making recommendations for resolutions.
Guide managers in employment law and regulations, ensuring investigations are conducted professionally and compliantly.
Support organization design and development activities, including performance management, succession planning, and organizational design.
Provide management and employee counseling, including performance discussions and career guidance.
Implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring effective communication and compliance with employment laws.
Lead employees through hiring, orientation, training, mentoring, and coaching.
Assist in processing personnel transactions, applications, and new hire documentation.
Ensure employee records and HRIS are updated as necessary.
Maintain documentation relating to labor/employment relations and recruitment.
Create job descriptions and assist with internal and external postings.
Administer performance management activities and disciplinary actions.
Schedule and prepare for employee grievance and disciplinary hearings.
Maintain calendars for the Director of Human Resources and Director of Labor/Employee Relations.
Investigate employee grievances and coordinate responses to complaints.
Interview employees to gather information on morale, motivation, and efficiency.
Collaborate with unions and assist with union agreements.
Support all department activities and serve as back-up for other staff as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
