Job Opportunity: Inpatient Coder (Remote for MD, PA, VA, WV, or DC)
Location: 100% Remote (Candidates must reside in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or District of Columbia) Duration: Contract to hire Shift: Flexible, but cannot work between 6 PM & 7 PM EST Equipment: Candidates must provide their own equipment and have reliable high-speed internet
Job Summary: LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder for a confidential client for a remote position. This role involves coding and abstracting medical records of inpatients, primarily handling non-trauma but complex IP records. The coder will also be responsible for coding day surgery, emergency, and outpatient records. The position requires adherence to established conventions and guidelines, with a focus on accuracy and production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Coding: Review medical records to determine physicians' diagnoses/procedures and assign ICD-10CM/PCS codes. Write and follow up on queries, assign appropriate APR/DRG, and adhere to the Coding Compliance plan.
Abstracting: Extract predetermined information from various records and enter it into the medical record abstract. Ensure abstracts are complete and ready for billing.
Communication: Keep co-workers and management informed by submitting management reports, notifying of missing documents, and working with Clinical Documentation Specialists. Participate in department meetings and assist with training new employees.
Research: Ensure records are coded, grouped, and abstracted properly by contacting other departments and physicians for necessary information. Utilize references and resources to determine appropriate codes.
Minimum Requirements:
Associate's degree in HIM, HIT, or related field
3-5 years of relevant coding experience
CCS with 5+ years of experience, or RHIT, or RHIA required
Must complete 2 charts per day with 98% accuracy
Ortho coding experience preferred
