Junior Litigation Attorney

Location: Pasadena, CA

Salary: $45 to $55 per hour

Job Type: Contract/Contract to Hire, Hybrid (3 Days Onsite) after 30 to 60 days, Full-Time

A small, close-knit law firm in Pasadena is seeking a Junior Litigation Attorney to join their team on a contract or contract-to-hire basis. This role offers mentorship, a supportive environment, and room for growth. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense litigation and be comfortable handling deposition-related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and defend depositions, including witness preparation and post-deposition analysis

  • Draft and serve deposition notices, subpoenas, and related discovery documents

  • Perform legal research and analysis to support deposition strategy and case development

  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to assess case strengths, weaknesses, and settlement options

  • Prepare case files, exhibits, and summaries for hearings and trial preparation

  • Communicate with opposing counsel regarding scheduling, discovery disputes, and case updates

  • Assist in drafting motions, pleadings, and other litigation documents as needed

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in the California State Bar

  • Some litigation experience is preferred

  • Strong understanding of civil procedure and deposition strategy

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
