Remote Contract Project Finance Attorney – Energy Sector


Employment Type: Temporary W2 Contract (3-month initial term)
Location: Fully Remote (must be barred in CA, NY, NC, FL, IL, TX, and/or DC)
Start Date: Within 2 weeks (no extended travel or vacation plans over the next 90 days)
Compensation: $75–$160/hour (based on experience)
Conversion Potential: High likelihood of extension and possible permanent hire



LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking experienced Project Finance Attorneys with deep expertise in the energy and power sector, particularly in power purchase agreements, offtake contracts, hedging, and commodities. This is a unique opportunity to work with a prestigious AM Law 100 firm on high-impact transactions in renewable and conventional energy.



Primary Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate power purchase agreements, offtake hedges, and derivatives.
  • Advise on structured products and commodities trading in the energy sector.
  • Support project finance transactions for renewable and conventional energy projects (wind, solar, geothermal, storage, gas-fired, coal-fired).
  • Represent lenders and sponsors in domestic and international infrastructure financings.
  • Structure and document public-private partnerships (P3), including DBFOM and concession agreements.
  • Draft and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, interest rate swaps, commodity hedges, and related documentation (ISDA, EEI, NAESB).
  • Ensure compliance with CFTC, SEC, and other regulatory regimes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to manage deal execution.


Qualifications (please ensure these requirements are highlighted on your resume!)
  • 3+ years of recent experience at a major US law firm or in-house legal department in energy project finance or commodities.
  • Background in renewable energy, storage, or distributed generation.
  • Experience with cross-border financings and social infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with trade desks or energy/commodities trading environments.


Other Non-Negotiables
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Bar admission in one of the following states: California, Florida, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Texas, Washington, D.C.
  • Availability to start within 2 weeks or ASAP
  • No extended travel or vacation plans during the initial 90-day contract
  • Must be able to clear conflicts, employment, education, and licensure verification, and background check



Pay Details: $75.00 to $160.00 per hour
