LHH is partnering with a leading commercial real estate company seeking a skilled Property Accountant to join our client’s finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property accounting and experience with industry-specific software. Position Overview: The Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the accounting functions for assigned properties. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position and proficiency with MRI, Yardi, or AppFolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all accounting activities for assigned properties, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for assigned properties.
Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
Maintain and update property management software (MRI, Yardi, or AppFolio) with accurate financial data.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting for assigned properties.
Reconcile tenant accounts and handle tenant billing and collections.
Prepare and post journal entries as needed.
Perform CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations.
Collaborate with property managers and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Assist with audits and other financial reviews as required.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar property accounting role.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proficiency with MRI, Yardi, or AppFolio.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
