LHH is partnering with a leading commercial real estate company seeking a skilled Property Accountant to join our client’s finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property accounting and experience with industry-specific software. Position Overview: The Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the accounting functions for assigned properties. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position and proficiency with MRI, Yardi, or AppFolio.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage all accounting activities for assigned properties, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations.


  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for assigned properties.


  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.


  • Maintain and update property management software (MRI, Yardi, or AppFolio) with accurate financial data.


  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting for assigned properties.


  • Reconcile tenant accounts and handle tenant billing and collections.


  • Prepare and post journal entries as needed.


  • Perform CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations.


  • Collaborate with property managers and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.


  • Assist with audits and other financial reviews as required.


Requirements:



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar property accounting role.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


  • Proficiency with MRI, Yardi, or AppFolio.


  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.


  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
