LHH is looking for a Sr. IT Systems Engineer with strong experience around VMware-based virtualization, on‑prem infrastructure, and automation-driven support. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux and open‑source technologies, with some DevOps overlap.
As the Senior Engineer, you will design, implement, and manage Linux and Windows applications, align technology solutions with business needs, and ensure reliability across hybrid environments.
What You Will Do
Architect and maintain highly available Linux/Windows server environments across on‑prem and cloud platforms.
Manage and optimize hypervisors (VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM) and enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS/object).
Operate Orchestrations tools in production environments.
Standardize automation with Ansible and provision infrastructure with Terraform.
Build automation and tooling using Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
Develop and maintain scripts for Linux, Windows, Ansible (Python/YAML).
Lead server migrations, deployments, and cross‑functional improvement initiatives.
Monitor server/application performance and provide hardware/software optimization recommendations.
Manage vendor engagements for timely issue resolution.
Maintain thorough system documentation, including designs, procedures, and change logs.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree (CS preferred) + 8+ years enterprise system engineering experience, or MS + 6+ years.
Strong understanding of public cloud services and APIs.
8+ years Linux administration experience.
8+ years VMware experience (vSphere, vMotion).
Experience with API development and integration.
4+ years DevOps experience.
Proficiency in Python; experience with Ansible (4+ years).
Experience with enterprise storage systems (NFS/SMB/CIFS; QNAP, Pure, HPE, NetApp).
Advanced Active Directory knowledge (GPO, Replication, DNS).
Understanding of security best practices.
Strong documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
