LHH Recruitment Solutions has an opening for an Energy Engineer/Project Manager for our client in the Trenton, NJ area to join their Engineering division.
This remote role centers on conducting ASHRAE-compliant energy audits and assessments, identifying energy and water conservation opportunities, establishing and analyzing facility baselines, calculating potential energy savings, and preparing cost estimates for project proposals. Energy industry certifications such as CEM, CEA, or CMVP are highly valued and will be considered favorably and familiarity with measurement and verification (M&V) protocols and the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) is required.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the sales team to engage customers, define project budgets and requirements, and establish design criteria tailored to their specific needs.
• Schedule and conduct site visits to evaluate existing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and lighting systems at customer facilities.
• Conduct energy audits and thoroughly document key variables, including energy performance metrics, utility data, facility infrastructure drawings, and other relevant information.
• Collaborate with the installation team to communicate project-specific metrics, enabling the development of a precise cost estimate and a competitive design solution that meets all customer requirements.
• Clearly communicate design details to the sales team and provide technical support to address any customer inquiries.
• Provide engineering expertise throughout all phases of the project lifecycle—including development, construction, commissioning, and operations—while contributing to proposals, technical reports, cost estimates, and presentations.
• Identify new opportunities for Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and explore enhancements to existing strategies for greater efficiency and impact.
• Build and sustain strong, collaborative business relationships.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
• Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in energy efficiency projects, HVAC-focused mechanical engineering, or related contracting work.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ASHRAE standards and hands-on experience conducting Level 1, 2, and 3 energy audits or equivalent investment-grade assessments.
• Experience in AutoCAD.
• Proven proposals creation required.
• Proven experience in dealing with utility programs, energy savings, energy incentive programs, etc.
• Proven ability to evaluate and quantify energy savings, and to implement projects involving chiller and boiler systems, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), HVAC retrofits, steam systems, building controls, distributed generation, and lighting solutions.
• Proven experience in developing energy savings calculations using Microsoft Excel is required.
• Familiarity with measurement and verification (M&V) protocols and the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) is preferred.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) is considered an asset.
• Energy industry certifications such as CEM, CEA, or CMVP are highly valued and will be considered favorably.
• P.E. certification is highly preferred.
• Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and technical presentation skills.
• Highly self-motivated professional with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
• Candidates must possess established residency within New Jersey and hold a valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to travel to client facilities daily and interact with clients.
• Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary to accommodate client, project, or site-specific requirements.

Pay Details: $120,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year
